The City of Antwerp
Antwerp is the largest city in Flanders and has 500,000 inhabitants. Antwerp has a long history; as a sea port, as the diamond capital of the world, as a city of the Rubens, the famous painter who specialized in altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings. Buzzing shopping streets and romantic squares brim with restaurants whose tables spill out on to the pavement. A visit to Antwerp is a guaranteed success!
Antwerp with its many sights, museums, shops, restaurants and open air markets is the ideal destination for a city trip. Hotspots are the Cathedral, the impressive Central Station and imposing museums such as Rubens House, MAS (Museum at the River) and Museum Plantin-Moretus. Be sure to visit the trendy neighbourhood of Het Eilandje (the Islet), the Schelde River Embankment and Park Middelheim.
